Mike Peacock of Green Bay awarded John Catlin Masonic Scholarship

RIPON, WI (07/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Mike Peacock, a senior politics and government major at Ripon College, has been awarded the John Catlin Masonic Scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester B. Peacock of Green Bay.

John Catlin (1803-1874) was Wisconsin's fourth territorial governor and worshipful master of Madison Lodge 5, the same lodge as Senator "Fighting Bob" LaFollette. The lodge established a $2,000 need-based scholarship fund to assist men committed to living moral and ethical lives as they pursue their post-secondary education.

Famous Masons have included George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman.
