Milan Resident Timothy Reynolds Receives National Allied Health Award

ITHACA, NY (10/03/2012)(readMedia)-- Ithaca College student and Milan resident Timothy Reynolds was recently named the winner of the 2012 Sidney D. Rodenberg Memorial Scholastic Award. Given annually by the Alpha Eta Society, the national honor society for the allied health professions, the Rodenberg Award recognizes outstanding scholarship by an undergraduate pursuing a program in allied health.

Currently enrolled in Ithaca College's two-year doctoral program in physical therapy, Reynolds graduated from the college summa cum laude last May with a bachelor's in clinical health studies. He will receive the Rodenberg Award at Alpha Eta's national conference in Orlando on October 26.

An inductee into two undergraduate honor societies, Phi Kappa Phi and the Oracle Honor Society, Reynolds earned Dean's List honors six times and served as secretary, treasurer and class representative for the Ithaca College Physical Therapy Club. His undergraduate research included developing a therapeutic invention for student innovators that won a statewide competition. He presented his research findings on that and other projects at campus and national professional meetings.

"From conducting research studies to taking part in clinical experiences, my undergraduate career at Ithaca College greatly benefited my professional development in the field of physical therapy," Reynolds said.

His many service activities included founding Up 'til Dawn, a campus organization that raised more than $130,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to fight childhood cancer. His involvement in campus life and his leadership roles in community service earned him two of the college's top honors, the Peggy R. Williams Award for Academic and Community Leadership and the Ithaca College Campus Life Award.

"I'd like to thank my family, who have supported me over the years, as well as the faculty and staff in the physical therapy and exercise science departments at Ithaca College," Reynolds said. "They've taught me so much."
