Minooka native Marsala named Lake Forest College Athlete of the Week

The freshman infielder leads the Lake Forest College softball team with a .462 batting average.

LAKE FOREST, IL (03/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Softball player Kassie Marsala (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) was named Forester Athlete of the Week recently for her performance in the first four games of the team's Spring Break trip to Florida.

Marsala, a freshman corner infielder, went 2-for-3 with an RBI-double and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 season-opening loss to Washington College. She doubles and scored again in a 6-4 victory over College of Mount St. Joseph later in the day.

The Foresters fell 6-1 to Marietta College and defeated Endicott College 4-3 on Tuesday. Marsala had two of the team's three base hits in the opener and added her team-high third double and run scored against Endicott.

Marsala leads the Foresters with a .462 batting average and .692 slugging percentage on the season. She is the only player on the team with at least one base hit in all four games.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
