Mission Debrief: Reflections on Maternal and Child Health in India

NORFOLK, VA (01/27/2011)(readMedia)-- Dr. Karotkin and representatives from his six-member team will provide an overview of their November 2010 mission to Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Sawangi, India. The mission was funded by a $25,000 grant from Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

WHO:

Dr. Edward Karotkin, Physicians for Peace chairman, India mission team leader

WHAT:

On the India mission, team members taught critical neonatal and pediatric life-saving techniques to Indian healthcare professionals. Working with Dr. Satish Deopujari, the founder and chairman of India’s National Conference on Pediatric Critical Care, team members also served as guest lecturers at an international conference on life- threatening pediatric diseases in Nagpur. In addition to serving as the chairman of Physicians for Peace, Dr. Karotkin is a neonatologist at the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and a professor of pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
