Mondello Statement on Biden Selection

ALBANY, NY (08/23/2008)(readMedia)-- Over the course of this year, Joe Biden has said Barack Obama wasn't ready to be President, has broadly criticized Obama's foreign policy and has said he would not accept a Vice Presidential nomination and preferred to remain in the Senate.

Barack Obama's campaign leaked the announcement to the media, even after collecting the personal phone numbers of supporters with the promise that they would be the first to know. This once again highlights Barack Obama's misplaced thirst for headlines over delivering on promises to real people.

The Vice Presidential decision, and how it was announced, will continue the confusion and disunity within the Democratic Party.

By contrast, John McCain is leading a resurgent Republican Party that is unified and optimistic from the Presidential level, through our Congressional candidates, Senator Skelos and Assembly Leader Tedisco and our local grassroots leaders and organizers.

John McCain's life has been a testament to his faithful service to the American people and its ideals. He has the character, vision and tenacity to lead America during the troubled times we face.

And, the Republican Party has the unity and organization we need to be successful this fall here in New York and across the country.
