CAMP SMITH TRAINING SITE, CORTLANDT MANOR, NY (05/28/2015)(readMedia)--  Jeremiah Tate, a Montrose resident, has been awarded the Adjutant General's Award by the New York Army National Guard.

The award recognizes his excellent job performance in maintaining the computer and telecommunications network at Camp Smith Training Site. Tate, a civilian contractor, has worked at the facilty for the last six years.

Camp Smith, first used in the 1880s, is the New York National Guard's largest training facility. Army National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers from across the region train at the facilities ranges and in its manuever area. Law enforcement agencies also use the facilitiy.

The Adjutant General's Award is presented to civilian employees of the Division of Military and Naval Affairs in recognition of excellence on the job.

The Adjutant General is the state's highest ranking military officer and serves as commander of the New York National Guard at the direction of the governor.
