PAUL SMITHS, NY (05/01/2012)(readMedia)-- Morgan Horwatt, a work-study student at Paul Smith's College, has been named Outstanding Student Employee by the Northern New York Library Network.
Horwatt, a senior, will graduate on Saturday, May 5. She has worked four semesters at the college's Joan Weill Adirondack Library.
The Northern New York Library Network is a group of more than 60 libraries in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego and St. Lawrence counties of New York State. Members include college and university, museum and municipal libraries.
Horwatt is graduating from Paul Smith's with a bachelor's degree in culinary arts and service management with a minor in business.
"Our work-study students are an extremely important part of our staff and essential to the day-to-day operations of the library," said Marina Potter, who supervises the library's 12 student workers. "Not only do they help us keep things organized, they also act as the face of our library, usually serving as the first person to offer help to our patrons. What makes Morgan such an outstanding student employee is her constant on-the-go drive to learn new skills beyond the duty of a student worker. All her tasks she does with precision and detail, then asks, 'Give me more!' We'll miss her."
