ALBANY, NY (09/17/2007)(readMedia)-- President Bush has advanced a strong, highly qualified candidate for Attorney General in Michael B. Mukasey. He is well regarded throughout New York’s legal community for his professionalism, fairness, and extensive legal experience.

He is widely respected as a lawyer, prosecutor, and judge. In particular, his experience in terrorism related cases like the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and Jose Padilla cases, make him the right individual to lead the Justice Department during these dangerous and troubled times.

I commend the President for an excellent choice as nominee to serve as America’s 81st Attorney General, and I urge his swift confirmation.
