NCC Honors Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

BETHLEHEM, PA (10/10/2018) Northampton Community College (NCC) inducted new members to the Athletic Hall of Fame on October 8, 2018. The reception and ceremony took place on Bethlehem Campus. The inductees being honored were as follows.

Morgan (Neel) Anderson - Softball 2011 - 2012

Mike Tenaglia - Baseball 2011 - 2012

Janess (Lyle) Jones - Softball 2005 - 2006

Michael S. DeMasi - Baseball, 1982 - 1984

Michael DeMasi was a dual-sport athlete in baseball and basketball from 1982-84. Captain of both teams during his career at Northampton, DeMasi was awarded both the Charles H. Groman Award and the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year Award following the 1983-84 season. DeMasi coaches numerous youth teams, including serving as the Commissioner of Upper Nazareth Softball and currently presiding as the President of the Eastern Lehigh Valley Softball League.

Janess (Lyle) Jones helped lead the Spartans to a perfect 78-0 record during her two seasons playing softball at NCC from 2005 - 2006, when she also was awarded the Charles H. Groman Award. Jones helped coach the Spartans during the 2007 season, where their amazing streak gained national attention when it reached 94-consecutive victories before their first loss.

Morgan (Neel) Anderson was a two-time NJCAA All-American and two-time First Team All-Region selection who led the Spartans to a 42-22 record during her two seasons, including two trips to the NJCAA Region XIX Final Four. Named Northampton's Outstanding Female Athlete in 2011 and 2012, Anderson still ranks first in career RBI (98), career homeruns (10), career doubles (33) and is second in career hits (95).

During his time at NCC, Mike Tenaglia was a two-time NJCAA All-American and two-time All-Region selection. He brought the Northampton Baseball team to a 54-32 record during his career, including a runner-up finish in the 2011 Region XIX tournament. The all-time leader in career homeruns (17) and RBI (101) at Northampton, Tenaglia also ranks 3rd all-time in career hits (98). Tenaglia returned to Northampton in 2015 as an assistant coach and helped lead the Spartans to the NJCAA World Series in 2017.

A special honoree inducted into the Hall of Fame was Mrs. Irene Trach for "Outstanding Contribution" to the program.

"This is always one of the best nights of the year," remarked Troy Tucker, director of athletics. "Honoring our past is such an important part of our culture. It is crucial for our current student-athletes to see those who have come before them and what they achieved to help build this program."
