"Furiously entertaining!" –The Sydney Morning Herald

The Intergalactic Nemesis is an adventure story that has taken the form of a PBS-produced YouTube series, audio dramas, an audio podcast, graphic novels, and a multi-installment theatrical production-the latter dubbed a live-action graphic novel by its creators. The Arts Center will present Target Earth, part one of the live-action graphic novel.

The premise of Target Earth is simple: a laugh-out-loud period adventure featuring Pulitzer-winning reporter Molly Sloan, her intrepid assistant Timmy Mendez, and a mysterious librarian named Ben Wilcott, who face the most serious threat Earth has ever known: an impending invasion of sludge monsters. Together, our heroes travel from 1930s Earth to the Robot Planet and finally to Imperial Zygon to defeat this terrible threat to humanity-in a mash-up of audio drama and comic book, with big-screen artwork, actors, a Foley artist, and a pianist.

All live on stage!

As the audience enters the theater, they'll see an unusual set-up: a giant projection screen floating above three microphones; a piano; and a table full of toys, household items and strange objects, all of which will be used in real time as the show unfolds. Imagine three actors voicing dozens of parts, switching accents and characters between breaths; a Foley artist creating hundreds of sounds, from train whistles to spaceship explosions; a pianist improvising the entire dramatic score; and more than 1,000 original, hand-drawn, full-color comic book images blasting on the screen!

When The Intergalactic Nemesis first premiered in Austin, Texas, more than 2,100 people turned out. Shortly thereafter, The Intergalactic Nemesis was featured on NPR and Conan O'Brien's late-night show. Now in its third touring season, the production has wowed super-hero lovers, sci-fi fans, geeks, gamers, families, and the young at heart in more than 150 venues around the world, including a run at the New Victory Theatre on Broadway and five sold-out shows at the Kennedy Center.
