JAVA CENTER, NY (03/09/2018) (readMedia)-- A New York Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter will be conducting training in the vicinity of Java Center, N.Y. on Saturday and Sunday, March 10 and 11.

The helicopter, which is assigned to Company B of the 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation, will be conducting air insertion training in conjunction with members of the New York Army National Guard's Troop C, 2nd Squadron 101st Cavalry.

The helicopter is based at the Rochester International Airport. The 2nd Squadron 101st Cavalry is headquartered at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

The CH-47 will be transporting Soldiers from Niagara Falls Air Reserve State to and from a training area in the vicinity of Beaver Hollow Conference Center.

The mission of the Cavalry Soldiers is to conduct covert reconnaissance and they need to know how to work with Army aircraft to move into position to accomplish their mission.
