Governor Paterson's Plan to Revitalize South Bronx Through "Spotlight Communities" Initiative to be announced

New York Secretary of State Lorraine Cortes-Vazquez, Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo, Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, Assemblyman Carl Heastie, Alexi Tores Fleming of the Youth Ministries of Peace and Justice and other community leaders will announce the state's Brownfields Smart Growth "Spotlight Communities" Initiative at an event in the South Bronx this Thursday, November 19 starting at 9:30 am.

The event will focus on the revitalization the southern portion of the Bronx River corridor. The South Bronx is one of three communities state-wide that has been selected to be a part of the "Spotlight Communities" Initiative.

Community participants and several state agencies on the Governor's Smart Growth Cabinet will discuss the South Bronx's re-development plans, tour key sites, and hear from local and state stakeholders.
