NYISO Announces Promotion of Dr. Nicole Bouchez to Consumer Interest Liaison and Senior Principal Economist

RENSSELAER, NY (02/09/2023) (readMedia)-- The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is pleased to announce that Dr. Nicole Bouchez has been promoted to the role of Senior Principal Economist – Consumer Interest, Market Structures. This role also serves as the NYISO's Consumer Interest Liaison. Dr. Bouchez had served as a Principal Economist – Market Design for the NYISO since 2011. She initially joined the NYISO in 2003 in the Market Mitigation and Analysis Department and was promoted to head that department in 2006.

As Senior Principal Economist – Consumer Interest, Market Structures, Dr. Bouchez will help inform the consumer sector about changes in the wholesale energy markets and the implications of those changes. She will also continue to work with NYISO's market design team to develop market efficiencies that deliver benefits to the consumer sector. In her role as the Consumer Interest Liaison, Dr. Bouchez will serve as a key contact for consumer interests, coordinating the NYISO's consumer-related initiatives by analyzing market developments and performing impact analyses of major market design changes. This specific role is unique to the NYISO.

Dr. Bouchez earned a Bachelor's in International Relations and Economics from the University of California, Davis in 1992. She graduated with a Master's in International Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1995 followed by a Doctorate in International Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2000. Dr. Bouchez also taught as a Lecturer at the University of London from 2000 through 2002.
