"We are thankful for the unwavering bipartisan leadership of Senator John DeFrancisco and Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy to make the statewide funding and oversight of indigent criminal defense services a priority this session.

"The State Bar Association has long supported legislation to require full state funding for and oversight of indigent criminal defense services.

"We are gratified that both houses have taken this critical step toward making this longstanding Association priority a reality. We urge Governor Cuomo to sign this legislation when it is before him for consideration."
