NYS Medical Society Congratulates HHS Pick Tom Daschle
WESTBURY, NY (12/11/2008)(readMedia)-- The Medical Society of the State of New York congratulates Senator Tom Daschle for being named by President-Elect Obama as his nominee choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services.
MSSNY President Michael Rosenberg, MD, commented today that "We are optimistic that Senator Daschle will provide strong Cabinet leadership for the new administration's focus on improving healthcare in the country. The next administration faces a myriad of challenges in our current healthcare system that must be addressed, including the large number of uninsured, exorbitant liability costs, and excessive paperwork that prevents physicians from spending necessary time with patients. All these problems have led to a growing physician shortage."
Dr. Rosenberg said, "We look forward to working with Senator Daschle and our new president to develop an improved healthcare system that enables physicians to continue to provide necessary, quality care to our patients."
