NYS Rifle & Pistol Assoication Sponsors Sporting Clays Scholastic Target Program Team
TROY, NY (09/09/2011)(readMedia)-- The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA) and Rochester Brooks International Trap & Skeet Club are joining forces to raise funds for youth shooting sports -- targeting the New York State Sporting Clays Scholastic Clays Target Program (SCTP) Team.
The Main Event will be a 100 target Sporting Clays tournament that is registered and sanctioned through the National Sporting Clays Association. Entry fee is $50.00 per person. Participants can also sign up for Lewis and other Shooting Class Options. The event will be held at Rochester Brooks, 962 Honeoye Falls, RD #6, Rush, NY.
Beikirch's Shooting Supplies, East Rochester, NY and Gustin Sports Optics, Webster, NY have donated merchandise for a 5 Stand - Top Gun Fun Shoot. NYSRPA will be sponsoring a Top Gun Air Rifle contest and will also be giving away merchandise, including a free one year membership to their organization. All proceeds from these events will be used to support the New York State SCTP Team.
The New York SCTP team is coached by Douglas Thompson, Wilson, NY. In addition to coaching and traveling with the team to the SCTP shoots, Coach Thompson also assists the junior shooters when applying to colleges that have shooting teams. Coach Thompson currently has two former high school students shooting at Lindenwood University, St. Charles, Missouri through scholarship programs.
SCTP provides school-age participants in grades 12 and under with the opportunity to showcase their competitive shooting skills in American Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays and International Shotgun Games. Participants can earn state and national recognition.
