NYS Tribute Foundation Announces New Scholarship Program to Encourage Funeral Service Careers
BALLSTON SPA, NY (06/23/2008)(readMedia)-- The NYS Tribute Foundation, the philanthropic and educational arm of the NYS Funeral Directors Association, is seeking applicants for four new scholarships in mortuary science studies to encourage careers in funeral directing. According to Foundation President Bonnie McCullough, "Funeral service is one of the most rewarding and stable careers a person can choose. A funeral director provides quiet support to grieving families during a time of great emotional stress."
Applicants for the four $1500 scholarships must reside in the state of New York; intend to serve a residency and work in a New York State funeral home and must meet certain academic standards which are indicated on the scholarship application.
Individuals who may be eligible to apply for the scholarships include high school graduates who have been accepted in an accredited mortuary science program; first-year or second-year students in an accredited mortuary science school; students enrolled in accredited online mortuary science studies and mortuary science students working toward a BS degree in this field at an accredited college or university.

Winners of the scholarships will be announced at the New York State Funeral Directors Association's Convention on August 26 at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing.
The NYS Tribute Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not- for-profit organization, was established in 2003 out of a desire to unite the knowledge and resources of funeral service professionals throughout New York State. It is dedicated to supporting education, outreach and research programs that advance the public's understanding of end-of-life issues.
