NYSRPA encourages Dutchess GOP to nominate pro-Second Amendment candidate
ALBANY, NY (02/25/2014)(readMedia)-- This Wednesday the Dutchess County Republican Committee will nominate a candidate for the 41st Senate District. The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association encourages delegates to take into consideration each candidates position on the 2nd Amendment when casting their ballots.
Of the three declared candidates, only Rob Rolison has a voting record backing up his public statements in support of civil rights. In March 2013 he sponsored a resolution in the county legislature calling for repeal of the so-called SAFE Act.
On the flip side of the coin, only John Tkazyik has a public record hostile towards civil rights. In Septemeber 2009 he joined Michael Bloomberg's gun control group Mayors Against Illegal Guns and let his name be used in all sorts of legislative and political initiatives at the state and federal level. His recent op-ed in the Poughkeepsie Journal claiming ignorance of MAIG's goals was so totally not believable it insulted the intelligence of Journal readers.
