NYSRPA reminds legislature why public comment on bills is important
ALBANY, NY (10/28/2013)(readMedia)-- The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association is pleased that the State Police are suspending the background check and recordkeeping requirements for ammunition purchases.
Had the state legislature bothered to research the issue and allowed time for public comment instead of ramming the SAFE Act though in the middle of the night when nobody even read the bill, it would never have passed into law in the first place.
The last gun control boondoggle, New York's Combined Ballistic Identification System (COBIS), ran for 11 years without producing a single result at an estimated cost to the taxpayers of more than $40 million dollars before it was finally terminated. Thankfully at least some in state government aren't interested in repeating history.
