NYSUT Rallies Support for VNA Workers Monday in Albany
ALBANY, NY (10/28/2007)(readMedia)-- Dozens of union members from across the Capital District will march outside the Visiting Nurse Association’s Albany office Monday, Oct. 29, from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The office is located at 35 Colvin Ave., between Washington and Central Avenues.
NYSUT members and other unionists will rally in support of VNA home health aides and office workers, who assist the VNA nurses in caring for home-bound patients 365 days a year.
NYSUT Vice President Kathleen Donahue, representatives of the VNA workers’ local union and the NYS Labor-Religion Coalition will offer remarks beginning at 5:15 p.m.
Members of the VNA local union have been without a new agreement since their contract expired in January.
NYSUT represents 585,000 teachers, school-related professionals, academic and professional faculty in higher education, professionals in education and health care and retirees. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.
