Naperville's Max Obriecht named Midwest Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week

AURORA, IL (03/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Aurora University swept the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) Player of the Week Awards for the week ending March 17, 2013. Junior Spencer Fuqua (Cypress, Calif./Los Alamitos H.S.) was named the Defensive Player of the Week with sophomore Max Obriecht (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North H.S.) named the Offensive Player of the Week.

Fuqua and Obriecht led AU to a 2-0 week with a 34-0 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering and a 23-3 win over Hanover College.

Fuqua, a long stick middie, had 10 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers during the Spartans' two MLC wins. He had two goals, three ground balls and three caused turnovers against MSOE, and then tallied an assist, seven ground balls and nine caused turnovers against Hanover.

Obriecht, a midfielder, totaled nine goals, five assists and 26 ground balls in the two MLC games. He finished with five goals, four assists, and 14 ground balls, and was 16-of-17 on face-offs during a 34-0 shutout of the MSOE. He then followed with four goals, one assist, and 12 ground balls, and was 13-of-20 on face-offs in a 23-3 win over Hanover.

Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Wednesday, March 20, when they travel the University of Notre Dame to take on Trine University. Game time is set for 11:45 a.m. EST in South Bend, Ind.
