Nassau County Funeral Directors Appointed to New Volunteer Disaster Commission

ALBANY, NY (11/15/2007)(readMedia)-- Ed Mockler of Garden City, Joseph Noll of Rockville Center Stephanie Nowak of North Massapequa, Kenneth Grosser of T.F. Levittown and have been appointed to serve on the Family Assistance Commission (FAC) organized by the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) to respond to disasters occurring in New York State. As FAC members, Mockler, Noll, Nowak, and Grosser will interview survivors and process paperwork to assist in identifying and facilitating the release of remains to the next of kin. They were chosen to serve on this commission due to their extensive experience as funeral directors in New York State.
A licensed funeral director for 24 years, Ed Mockler of Brueggemann Funeral Home in East Northport, NY, is a member of the NYSFDA Disaster Committee and DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Response Team). As a member of DMORT, he has worked helping families after many disasters including Egypt Air flight 990, the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
A licensed funeral director for 32 years, Joseph Noll of Macken Mortuary Inc., in Rockville Centyer, NY is a member of NYSFDA’s Disaster Committee and the DMORT Family Assistance Care Team (FACT). He has responded to many disasters including TWA Flight 800, 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the ComAir Flight 5191 crash in Kentucky.
A licensed funeral director for 8 years, Stephanie Nowak of Cassidy Funeral Home in Mineola, NY has broad experience in arranging funerals. She is also a certified grief counselor. She was deployed as a member of DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Response Team) to Mississippi to recover victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She also assisted in managing day-to-day operations of the morgue as well as assisting evacuation plans during Hurricane Rita.
A licensed funeral director for 29 years, Kenneth Grosser of the T.F. Dalton Funeral Home in Levittown, NY is a member of DMORT. He saw disaster duty in the family assistance center after the crash of TWA Flight 800.
FAC will operate under the auspices of the New York State Tribute Foundation, which is the charitable arm of NYSFDA.
