Natalie Updike of Vincennes Presents Scholarly Work at International Convention

EVANSVILLE, IN (03/16/2012)(readMedia)-- The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Vincennes resident Natalie Updike recently presented her scholarly work at the international conference of Sigma Tau Delta, an English honor society.

Updike's paper, "Torture, Testing, and Teaching: The Awakening of Sympathies in Black Beauty and The Island of Dr. Moreau," was delivered in a panel focusing on British literature. The conference took place February 29-March 3 in New Orleans.

Updike, a graduate of Lincoln High School, is majoring in creative writing at UE.

Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society, has over 800 active chapters in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. The organization's central purpose is to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies.
