National Leaders Address Issues of Government Transparency
Open Government in the Digital Age Summit in NYS
ALBANY, NY (03/16/2010)(readMedia)-- The Office of the New York State Chief Information Officer/New York State Office for Technology and the New York State Archives will host the 2010 Open Government in the Digital Age Summit on Friday, March 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Clark Auditorium in the Cultural Education Center (New York State Museum), in Albany. The day-long program is being held to consider questions essential to effective operation of state government and citizen participation. The Summit is held in recognition of Sunshine Week, a national initiative to open dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information.
Featured speakers include:
• David S. Ferriero, Archivist of the United States
• Beth S. Noveck, U.S. Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Open Government
• Paul Taylor, Chief Content Officer, e. Republic, Inc.
Issues being considered by the more than 250 attendees who represent local and state governments, industry and academia will include:
• The meaning of "open government" in the digital age
• Meeting citizens expectations for access
• What the future holds for openness
• Open government best practices
• Sunshine Law and archival implications of digital records
