CSDA is Nazareth College's Chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA). Last year, the club was able to raise $1,140 for Operation Smile. This year they hope to raise $2,400. Operation Smile is part of the Cleft and Craniofacial Center at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. Each year more than 200,000 children are born with severe cleft condition, making it difficult, and sometimes impossible, to eat, speak, socialize or smile. This initiative was established in 1982 through the help of medical volunteers to provide free surgeries to children in more than 50 countries. Operation Smile heals thousands of children each year and, today, more than 140,000 girls and boys have a new chance at life.
CSDA brings people within the communication sciences and disorders major together. It creates opportunities for upper and underclassmen to get to know one another and stay up to date while doing fun activities.
