Nazareth College Art Department opens annual faculty exhibit August 21; reception September 18

Talented artists to fill gallery with a variety of styles and media for season-opening exhibit!

ROCHESTER, NY (08/05/2015)(readMedia)-- The annual Nazareth College Art Department Faculty Show will be on view in the Arts Center Gallery August 21–September 26, 2015, with an Opening Reception Friday, September 18, from 5–7 p.m. Gallery hours are Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from noon to 5 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.

The exhibit features work by faculty members Sherri Baker Hamilton, Doot Bokelman, Maureen Brilla Fitzpatrick, David Cowles, Lynn Duggan, Paul Engin, Patricia Groves, Alice Hallahan, Jean MacKenzie, Lisa Mauro, Barb Messina, Mitch Messina, Ron Netsky, Samantha Nolte-Yupari, Paul Porell, Jim Quinn, Donna Riter, Hilary Toothe, and Steve Wehner.

Visitors will enjoy a gallery full of a variety of styles and media-including ceramics, illustrations, jewelry, metalwork, prints, paintings, photography, sculpture, and more-by the department's highly talented faculty of working artists.

The Faculty Show is an annual event that helps support the Arts Center Gallery's educational mission.

The Nazareth College Art Department offers undergraduate programs in studio art, art education, visual communication design, and art history; and graduate programs in art education and art therapy, all taught by a faculty made up of highly talented practicing artists. The department also runs the popular Saturday Art School and Summer Art for Teens community enrichment programs, and is proud to house two gallery spaces curated by department faculty.

The vision of the Arts Center Gallery is to be regionally and nationally recognized as an aesthetic showcase that contributes to the cultural and educational life of students, faculty, and the larger community. The gallery provides a venue for high-quality, diverse artwork that advances artistic exploration. Unless otherwise indicated for a specific show, the Arts Center Gallery is open Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from noon to 5 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.

Established through the generous support of artist and art educator Margaret Colacino, the Colacino Gallery serves as a cultural and educational resource for Nazareth students as well as the greater Rochester community. Its goal is to complement the liberal arts by fostering critical thinking, visual literacy, and aesthetic values. Unless otherwise indicated for a specific show, the Colacino Gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
