ROCHESTER, NY (11/16/2010)(readMedia)-- Nazareth College is proud to announce that Shannon Elliott, associate professor and program director of art education at Nazareth College has been chosen to be the 2010 New York State Art Teacher's Association (NYSATA) Educator of the Year for Region Two. Elliott will receive her award and special recognition at New York State Art Teachers Association's annual conference in mid-November.
NYSATA chose Elliott in part because she has demonstrated her ability to further the field of art education both in and out of the classroom with her dedication and vision.
As the Region Two Art Educator of the year, Elliott is now placed into a pool of 10 applicants; one of whom will be chosen as the 2011 New York State Art Educator of the Year. The recipient of the State Art Educator award will then represent New York at the National Art Educators Association Convention.
Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is a coeducational college with undergraduate and graduate studies in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education, and management. The College is located on 150 scenic acres near Rochester, New York, and currently enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.
