Howard, formerly of both Limestone and Belfast, Maine, will present a poster at the 2011 National ACS meeting in Anaheim, Calif., in March. She will share the research she has done with Nazareth Associate Professor of Chemistry Rich Hartmann, Ph.D., and a second poster on research she completed this past summer during her National Science Foundation (NSF) REU fellowship with Dr. Milan Balaz at the University of Wyoming. Howard is in the company of other college female chemists from colleges like Yale, UCLA, New York University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
The ACS Women Chemists Committee (WCC) and Eli Lilly and Company sponsor a program to provide funding for female chemists to travel to meetings to present the results of their research. Through this program, WCC and Eli Lilly and Company continue to increase the participation of women in the chemical sciences.
