Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department hosts MAD (Movement and Dance) Weekend March 26-29

ROCHESTER, NY (03/17/2015)(readMedia)-- The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department will host its third annual MAD (Movement and Dance) Weekend at the Nazareth College Arts Center Thursday, March 26-Sunday March 29, 2015.

The weekend will feature technique classes in a variety of dance styles and movement practices over a span of three days (March 27-29). Participants can choose from more than 30 classes in Afro-Cuban, ballet, choreography, contact improvisation, contemporary, hip hop, modern, musical theatre dance, partnering, salsa, tai chi, tap, and more, all taught by guest artists (from NYC, PA, MI, and more!).

Classes are open to dancers, actors, and movers (ages 15+) of all skill levels; $5 per class or six classes for $25. Tickets for all classes will be sold onsite beginning at 11 a.m. on March 27 and continuing throughout the event in the upper lobby of the Nazareth College Arts Center. On March 28, registration opens at 9 a.m.; on March 29, registration opens at 9:30 a.m.

Other MAD Weekend highlights include:

Nazareth College Spring Dance Concert, 7 p.m., March 26 and 27, featuring faculty, guest artist, and student choreography; Nazareth College Arts Center Studio Theatre A-48. Tickets: $5 cash.

Phoenix Dance performance and talk on March 28 at 7 p.m.; Nazareth College Arts Center Studio Theatre A-48. Tickets: $5 cash. The program will promote an understanding of Chinese culture and the history and characteristics of Chinese classical dance and Chinese minority group dances.
