Nazareth Honors Program Presents Making A Difference Through Arts, Feb. 23
ROCHESTER, NY (01/28/2010)(readMedia)-- Nazareth College's Honors Program is proud to present Dr. Rena Sharon as its spring semester guest lecturer on Tuesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m., in room A-13 in the Nazareth College Arts Center. Sharon's lecture, Making a Difference Through the Arts, will discuss her recent involvement in conflict management and how she has applied the psychological, musical, social, and political experience of chamber music rehearsal as a model for peace negotiation. Her talk will focus on how the arts can provide vital means of changing our world on political, social, spiritual, and personal levels. The lecture is free and open to the public. Sharon was born in Montreal, Canada and began her musical career at the age of eight. She is a concert pianist, performing artist, teacher, and the founder and artistic director of The Song Circle, an innovative performance arts company dedicated to the art of song. Throughout her career, her work has brought her recognition such as the Dean of Arts Award in 2000 for her excellence in teaching, research, and community outreach activities. Currently, she is a professor of collaborative piano studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and is the artistic co-director of the Young Artist Experience, an interdisciplinary chamber music camp for gifted teens.
Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is a coeducational college with undergraduate and graduate studies in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education, and management.
