Nazareth Students Invited to Speak at International Conference in Hungary, Oct. 10

ROCHESTER, NY (10/08/2014)(readMedia)-- A trio of Nazareth College students are flying from Rochester, N.Y., to Hungary to speak at an international conference commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Hungarian Holocaust.

WHAT:

Nazareth College students Jeff Baxter, Quinton Harvey, and Mary Lugo are traveling to Hungary to speak at the International Scientific Conference Commemorating the Hungarian Holocaust from October 12-14. The conference is in cooperation with the Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue at Nazareth College and it commemorates the 70th anniversary of the destruction of Hungarian Jewry. All three students attended The March: Bearing Witness to Hope earlier this year, a nine-day opportunity for Nazareth and Hobart & William Smith College students to study the Holocaust on site in Germany and Poland. The trio will be panelists at the conference to discuss The March. Baxter, a graduate student in education, will talk about his experience. Matt Temple, biology professor, and Muhammad Shafiq, professor in religious studies and executive director of The Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue, will accompany the students.

Students gather at Nazareth’s Center for International Education and leave for the airport at 10:40 a.m.
