BATAVIA, NY (01/14/2016)(readMedia)-- With the new year, new volunteer leaders are at the helm of the Genesee Community College Foundation. The Genesee Community College Foundation builds philanthropic and volunteer support for Genesee Community College. Among its many activities, the Foundation funds scholarships and grants for more than 300 students each year; operates College Village, the College's student residence for 455 students; sponsors a program of alumni outreach and activities to Genesee's 24,000+ graduates; and funds innovative programs at the College.

Since late 2013, the Foundation has sponsored Creating Our Future Together, a comprehensive fund raising campaign to support the construction of the College's new Student Success Center and Events Center, and create new endowed scholarship funds serving students living in communities served by the College's six campus centers. The campaign has raised about $5.3 million to date, and although the Foundation has completed formal campaign activities, gifts in support of the campaign are still welcome.

The Foundation Board is comprised of leading civic and business leaders, all volunteers, who guide the Foundation's fund raising programs, endowment funds, and stewardship activities, and who serve as advocates for Genesee Community College.
