AIKEN, SC (05/25/2018) The University of South Carolina Aiken's chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society, recently recognized the accomplishments of 11 junior and senior students by inducting them into the organization.

The organization was established in 1914 at Washington and Lee University.

"The society was founded by a group of 15 students and faculty who believed that leadership at the collegiate level should be recognized and encouraged across all phases of campus life," according to the Omicron Delta Kappa website.

"The motives which guided the founders sprang from the desire to bring together one body for the general good of the institution, leaders from all parts of the college or university community."

To be eligible for membership, inductees must exhibit strong leadership traits in multiple facets of campus life, including scholarship, athletics, community service, student government, journalism, and creative arts.

"These 11 students represent various academic departments on campus, but they each share the same dedication to improving the USCA campus and the Aiken community as a whole," said one member of the local chapter.

The following students were selected for membership:

Morgan Bookstaver

Brandon Eberl

Hannah Jameson

Anna Kay Norris

Anniebelle Quattlebaum

Christine Rhodes

Allison Swiecki

Madeline Thibult

Haley VanderWarf

Gabrielle Walker

Hope Smith-Dunbar, associate director of housing, earned an honorary ODK membership. She will serve as one of the group's advisers during the next academic year.
