New York Air National Guard promotes Warwick resident

STRATTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SCOTIA, N.Y. (10/08/2014)(readMedia)-- New York Air National Guard officer, and Warwick resident, David Zielinski, has been promoted to major. 

Zielinski currently serves as a C-130 aircraft commander with the 109th Airlift Wing's 139th Airlift Squadron. On the civilian side, he is a pilot for JetBlue Airways at Boston-Logan International Airport. 

Zielinski is a 16-year military veteran and joined the 109th Airlift Wing in 2003. He graduated North Kingstown High School in 1997 and the University of Rhode Island in 2002, with a major in sociology. 

Some of Zielinski's major awards include the Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the NATO Medal. 

Zielinski is the son of Louise, of North Kingstown, and Ernest Zielinski, of West Greenwich. He currently resides in Warwick with his wife, Christine.
