New York Army National Guard Recruiters team up with Chateaugay High School for Anti-Bullying training Monday

CHATEAUGAY, NY (11/18/2016)(readMedia)-- Members of the New York Army National Guard's local recruiting team will join Chateaugay High School to conduct a program countering bullying on Monday. Nov. 21.

WHO: Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard's Recruiting Battalion.

WHAT: Soldiers will teach the HEAR Program – short for Helping Everyone Achieve Respect-a research-bassed bullying prevention program devised at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Nebraska, which helps kids recognize the sources of bullying and end them.

HEAR Program:

The H·E·A·R program was created to help reduce bullying and promote safer learning environments. Career Training Concepts (CTC) collaborated with nationally renowned subject matter experts at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to create the program, a high quality, 50 minute anti-bullying presentation for high school students.

The New York Army National Guard

The New York Army National Guard is a reserve component of the United States Army whose members also serve a state mission. Army National Guard Soldiers train to the same standard as members of the Active Army and deploy when called upon to protect the nation's interests. Army National Guard Citizen Soldiers also respond to natural disasters and state emergencies here at home, and undertake homeland security missions.

Currently about 500 members of the New York Army National Guard's 10,300 Soldiers are deployed in Afghanistan and Kuwait. Another 750 Soldiers are conducting homeland security missions in New York City.
