LATHAM, NY (08/22/2014)(readMedia)-- New York Army National Guard Second Lieutenant Jennifer Alvarez of Woodhaven, N.Y. graduated from Officer Candidate School on August 16.
She was sworn in as a 2nd Lt. by Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, the Adjutant General during a ceremony at Camp Smith, Peekskill, N.Y.
Her new rank was pinned on by her girlfriend, Nicole Leonardis and her parents Luz and Diego Tarazone.
Alvarez has been a member of the National Guard since 2010 and will serve as Medical Service Officer assigned to Company F, 169th General Aviation Support Battalion, Rochester, N.Y.
