New York National Guard conducts medical evacuation drill at Camp Smith Training Site This morning

PEEKSKILL, NY (06/13/2015)(readMedia)-- National Guard Soldiers at the Camp Smith Training Site here will test post emergency medical evacuation procedures this morning, Saturday, June 13 with several local emergency medical and fire units and Life Net of NY, a helicopter ambulance service.

Members of the press are invited to attend the training this morning, Saturday, June 13 at 8:45 a.m. Press should wear footwear for a woodland environment.

WHO: About two-dozen members of the New York Army National Guard, Life Net of NY Air 2, Wallkill, the Continental Village Fire Department Rescue, Cortlandt Regional Paramedics and Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

WHAT: A medical evacuation training exercise to validate Camp Smith emergency procedures and timeliness, test communication systems with first responders and familiarize first responders with Camp Smith. The exercise scenario includes a rollover vehicle accident with 4 passengers. A Life Net helicopter will be used to evacuate the simulated casualties.

WHEN: 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. Media Access is 10:30 a.m. Call Sgt. Major Corine Lombardo at 518 528-4770 for access.

WHERE: Camp Smith, New York State Training Site in the Town of Cortlandt Manor located near the intersection of routes 202 and 9.
