New York State Association Of Health Care Providers Launches Statewide Campaign

November is National Home Care Month

EAST GREENBUSH, NY (11/05/2007)(readMedia)-- Each November, National Home Care Month commemorates the power of care, at home. In support of this national effort, the New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. (HCP) is launching a statewide campaign, “Home care. Health care. Your care…for life.”SM This campaign expands the initiative HCP launched earlier this year to raise awareness about the value of home care and its important role in the delivery of cost-effective home care in New York State.

Home care – Home care helps patients stay in the comfort of their own homes to receive the care they need.

Health care – Home care is emerging as the central point in the health care continuum, and is recognized as the most affordable, cost-effective way to delivery a wide range of health care services to patients.

Your care – Patients receive individualized in-home care from caring and experienced unsung “Heroes in the Home” – home care aides, paraprofessionals, nurses and therapists. HCP’s month-long campaign will recognize the selfless contributions home care workers make to patients and their families. Emphasis will also be on the need to attract workers to this growing industry and the need for ongoing education to maintain and grow home care workers’ skills.

For life. Home care services are essential at every stage of life—newborn, post-maternity support, at-risk children, children with disabilities, home infusion therapy, post-acute care, chronically ill, elder care and more.

“Whether a patient is a young child that wants to live with his parents, a 20-something paraplegic who needs an extra hand getting ready for the day or a bed-ridden grandmother who wishes to spend her last years with her family – home care has always been there to serve,” said Phyllis A. Wang, President HCP. “It is only appropriate that we raise the level of awareness about the home care industry and honor home care workers during Home Care Month.”

Through the “Home care. Health care. Your care…for life.”SM campaign, the community can learn about home care and gain a better understanding of the needs of those touched by home care. For more information log onto www.nyshcp.org.
