New York State Bar Association Announces New Committee Chairs

ALBANY, NY (07/21/2014)(readMedia)-- State Bar Association President Glenn Lau-Kee of Manhattan (Kee & Lau-Kee) has appointed 18 attorneys as chairs and co-chairs of committees within the Association.

The standing and special committees of the State Bar sponsor conferences and seminars, monitor legislation and conduct research studies. Each committee contributes to policy-making, both in subject areas and Association-wide.

The new committee chairs are:

Natalie Carraway of Barneveld, Committee on Animals and the Law. A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School, Carraway is the assistant dean of the Center for Social Sciences, Business and Information Sciences at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Lillian Moy of Albany, Committee on Attorney Professionalism. A graduate of Hunter College and Boston University School of Law. Moy is the executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York.

Betsy Ruslander of Albany, Committee on Children and the Law. A graduate of Gettysburg College and Pace University School of Law, Ruslander is the director of the Office of Attorneys for Children for the Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department.

Alan J. Pierce of Syracuse, Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction. A graduate of St. Lawrence University and Syracuse University College of Law, Pierce is a partner at Hancock Estabrook.

Tara L. Moffett of Albany, Committee on Disability Rights. A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School, Moffett is an associate at Girvin & Ferlazzo.

Marian C. Rice of Garden City, Committee on Law Practice Management (co-chair). A graduate of Fordham College and St. John's University School of Law, Rice is a partner of L'Abbate Balkan Colavita & Contini.

Kim Wolf Price of Syracuse, Committee on Lawyers in Transition. A graduate of Colgate University and Syracuse University College of Law, Price is the assistant dean of career services at Syracuse University College of Law.

Jonah Triebwasser of Red Hook, Committee on Law, Youth & Citizenship. A graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and New York Law School, Triebwasser is the town and village justice for Red Hook.

Bryan D. Hetherington of Rochester, Committee on Legal Aid (co-chair). A graduate of LaSalle College and Cornell Law School, Hetherington is the chief counsel of the Empire Justice Center in Rochester.

Keisha A. Williams of Buffalo, Committee on Legal Aid (co-chair). A graduate of Pace University School of Law, Williams is a staff attorney with the Western New York Law Center.

Patricia Salkin of Central Islip, Committee on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar. A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School, Salkin is the dean and a professor of law at the Touro College Jacob D. Fuschsberg Law Center.

Michelle Parker of Buffalo, Committee on Mass Disaster Response. A graduate of Canisius College and the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School, Parker is the first assistant county attorney to the Erie County Department of Law.

Marjorie Gross of New York City, Committee on Professional Ethics. A graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Georgetown University Law Center, Gross is the principal of the Law Office of Marjorie Gross.

Roy D. Simon of New York City, Committee on Standards of Attorney Conduct. A graduate of Williams College and New York University School of Law, Simon is a distinguished professor emeritus of law at Hofstra University School of Law.

Ferve E. Ozturk of New York City, Committee on Women in the Law (co-chair). A graduate of Brown University and Cornell Law School, Ozturk is an associate at Baker & Hostetler.

Andrew D. Kossover of New Paltz, Committee to Ensure Quality of Mandated Representation. A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and Vermont Law School, Kossover is a partner in the Kossover Law Offices and is Ulster County's part-time public defender.

William T. Russell of New York City, President's Committee on Access to Justice (co-chair). A graduate of Princeton University and New York University School of Law, Russell is a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

Ellen G. Makofsky of Garden City, Resolutions Committee. A graduate of Boston University and Brooklyn Law School, Makofsky is a partner of Raskin & Makofsky.
