DETAILS: The New York State Broadband Development and Deployment Council, established under Executive Order No. 22, will hold its first meeting on Monday, December 14, 2009. The Council is charged to provide strategic direction to ensure all New Yorkers have access to high-speed Internet networks and are able to participate fully in today's digital age. The New York State Broadband Development and Deployment Council will help coordinate state and federally funded broadband projects to stimulate broadband development, to close the digital divide, and to increase digital literacy levels in underserved and unserved urban and rural communities. Funded broadband deployments will also foster economic development by building strong public/private partnerships.
