New York State Budget Division Announces Public Hearings for 2011-12 Executive Budget

ALBANY, NY (10/27/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Division of Budget will hold formal public hearings on next year's 2011-12 Executive Budget, including agency and capital budgets, on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, in Room 124 of the State Capitol, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

"Given the substantial financial difficulties our State will continue to face during the upcoming year, I believe it is vital to ensure that all New Yorkers are provided the opportunity to be engaged in the budget process," Governor Paterson said. "These public hearings help to bring greater transparency and accountability to the budget-making process and I urge New Yorkers to utilize these opportunities."

At the hearings, selected agency heads will outline their budget requests for the upcoming fiscal year. Members of the Legislature and their staffs will be invited to participate and ask questions.

Written testimony from the public will be accepted at BudgetHearing@budget.state.ny.us.

Individuals may sign up to present brief testimony at the hearings on a first come, first served basis. Those wishing to present testimony must register ahead of time with the Division of Budget at 518-473-3885 or dob.sm.press@nysemail.state.ny.us. Hearings will also be webcast at www.budget.state.ny.us.

• 1:00 p.m.: Department of Transportation

Agency Budget Hearings:

• 2:15 p.m.: City University of New York

• 3:30 p.m.: Division of Criminal Justice Services
