New York State Commissioner to Deliver Keynote at Welfare Fraud Seminar
Annual Seminar Comes to Syracuse
The State Commissioner charged with oversight of public assistance programs in New York State will help kickoff the 26th Annual New York Welfare Fraud Investigators Association Training Seminar with keynote remarks at noon today in the Regency Ballroom of the Sheridan Syracuse University Conference Center, located at 801 University Avenue.
Commissioner David A. Hansell, who heads the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), the agency charged with oversight of most public assistance programs in New York State, will speak to the issue of expanding access to public benefits while maintaining program integrity.
The three-day training seminar, which runs from June 1-3, features workshops and training sessions for nearly 300 attendees from throughout the state.
The New York Welfare Fraud investigators Association (NYWFIA) is a statewide organization dedicated to rooting out fraud and promoting integrity in New York's social services programs. The Association's membership is a mix of social services program staff, investigators, law enforcement and prosecutors. The membership comes from counties all over New York State and from State agencies. NYWFIA President James Dadamio of Broome County stated, "I am pleased that NYWFIA has such a strong partnership with OTDA. We are honored to have Commissioner Hansell as our Keynote Speaker at our Luncheon. This is one more example of the generous support we receive from OTDA, from the Commissioner's Office and throughout the agency."
The keynote address will be open to the media and Commissioner Hansell will be available for interviews following his remarks.
