New York State Deputy Chief Information Officer Receives 2009 Ones to Watch Award

ALBANY, NY (05/01/2009)(readMedia)-- The New York State Chief Information Officer/Office For Technology (CIO/OFT) proudly announces Sharon Cates-Williams, New York State Deputy Chief Information Officer of IT Delivery Services, has been selected as a recipient of the 2009 CIO Ones to Watch awards from IDG's CIO magazine and CIO Executive Council.

Presented annually, the CIO Ones to Watch Award is awarded to 25 information technology (IT) executives who bring leadership, innovation and value to their organization and are primed to become future CIOs. Mrs. Cates-Williams was selected from hundreds of nominees by a judging panel of leading CIOs.

Mrs. Cates-Williams was named New York State Deputy Chief Information Officer for IT Delivery Services in April 2008. As Deputy Chief Information Officer for IT Delivery Services, Mrs. Cates-Williams oversees four state data center operations, voice and data telecommunications networks serving state and local government agencies, enterprise email and application and Web development business units.

Mrs. Cates-Williams also co-chairs the NYS Universal Broadband Council to bridge the digital divide for citizens and increase high speed broadband penetration rates across the state, is involved with women's education and mentor programs, actively participates in educational events for young adults and children, and holds memberships with several prestigious community and national organizations.
