New Yorkers Rally to Shine a Light on Dark Money
Call on President Obama to Issue Executive Order Disclosing Federal Contractors' Political Spending
NEW YORK, NY (04/02/2015)(readMedia)-- This event Is one of 55 being held across the country calling for an Executive Order to shine light on corruption.
April 2 marks the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's McCutcheon v FEC ruling, which further flooded the election system with unprecedented sums of money from corporations and the super wealthy.
Currently, corporations that bid for government contracts do not have to disclose their campaign spending. This has led to a corrupt pay-to-play system where contractors secretly funnel untold sums to help elect the very lawmakers who are responsible for awarding them back lucrative federal contracts.
