New Yorkers To Rally Against Cryptomining: Opposition Reaches Fever Pitch
One day before the gubernatorial primary and 3 days before Greenidge decision deadline, New Yorkers call on Gov. Hochul to protect region from climate-killing cryptomining
GENEVA, NY (06/26/2022) (readMedia)-- Cryptomining has become a flashpoint in the 2022 gubernatorial election, as crypto crashes and Governor Hochul delays any decision around climate-killing cryptomining after accepting campaign donations from crypto billionaires and lobbyists. In recent weeks, upstate GOP and democrat leaders have joined together to call on Governor Hochul to curb cryptomining, democrats have told Hochul she lost their votes because of the issue, scientists have implored her to follow the science on climate (as she did with COVID), and winemakers have repeatedly urged her to protect their threatened industry.
Now, with just one day before the primary and three days before the decision deadline for Greenidge Generation's air permits and still no decisions around climate-killing cryptomining from Governor Hochul, the issue is hitting a fever pitch. New Yorkers from across the state will gather with Seneca Lake Guardian in the Finger Lakes to tell Governor Hochul: If you mean what you say, sign the moratorium and deny Greenidge Generation's permits NOW!
