ITHACA, NY (04/17/2013)(readMedia)-- If you turn on your TV weekday mornings, you might catch a glimpse of Newfield resident Morgan Edwards. Edwards is interning at the "Rachael Ray Show" as part of ICNYC, an Ithaca College program that allows students to spend a semester living and working in New York City.

"I am a big fan of the show and I'm really lucky to have received this opportunity that allows me to be a part of it," said Edwards. "I've worked on cooking segments, celebrity interviews, musical performances and fashion and makeover segments."

A senior television-radio major in Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications, Edwards said she chose to intern at "Rachael Ray" because it gives her real-life experience in television production. Her duties include working with the production team on specific segments, coordinating audience members and helping on-set during tapings.

"I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to help out with each of the different departments within the show, and I'm getting to see how they all work with one another to make the show come together," she said.

Edwards credits the television production courses she's taken at Ithaca College for her success.

"The technical skills we learn in the Park School truly allow Ithaca College interns to be one step ahead," she explained. "IC prepares students extremely well for internships and I feel very confident when working in such a professional environment."

ICNYC is a semester-long program that combines internships with classroom-based and online courses, allowing students to gain real-world experience in New York City. Students have interned at NBC, Rolling Stone and Seventeen magazines, "Saturday Night Live" and Madison Square Garden, among other companies.

When she graduates in May, Edwards believes her experiences on campus and in the Big Apple will give her a leg up as she seeks a career in television show production.
