Newton resident Benjamin Allar wins outstanding student achievement award at Connecticut College
NEW LONDON, CT (05/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Benjamin Allar, a sophomore at Connecticut College, was awarded the Dorothy Richardson Prize, which is given to a sophomore for excellence in biology offered by the biology department in honor of Dorothy Richardson.
Allar was presented with the award at the annual Honors and Awards ceremony at Connecticut College on April 27.
Allar, a 2009 graduate of Newton South High School, is the son of Marcia Allar and David Governo.
At the ceremony, Timo V. Ovaska, Hans and Ella McCollum '21 Vahlteich Professor of Chemistry, gave the keynote address. Dean of the College Community Armando Bengochea and Dean of the Faculty Roger Brooks also congratulated the students.
