STORM LAKE, IA (12/05/2011)(readMedia)-- Two senior vocal recitals will be presented in completion of the requirements for music education and performance degrees in the Vocal Music Department at Buena Vista University on Friday, Dec. 9 in Anderson Auditorium.

At 5 p.m., Alison Buechler, Graettinger, and Aaron Fitzgerald, Pomeroy, will perform a wide- ranging repertoire. Buechler will perform The Telephone by Menotti from her ACES competition program and Fitzgerald will sing Fin ch'han dal vino from Don Giovanni by Mozart; German and French art songs and finish with Broadway selections from Tick, Tick, Boom by Pulitzer-prize winning composer Jonathan Larson.

Buechler will complete her vocal music performance degree and certification for teaching vocal music this semester. Fitzgerald will be completing his vocal music education degree following student teaching in the spring.

At 8 p.m., Nicholas Andersen, Sioux City, and Kylie Peterson, a junior from Lincoln, Neb., will sing a senior recital. Andersen will begin with Durch die Walder from Der Freischulz by Carl Maria von Weber, and Peterson will begin with Chacun le sait from Daughter of the Regiment by Gaetano Donizetti. The students will sing a wide variety of literature including art songs and Broadway selections. They will perform a Rossini duet and finish the recital with a duet from Spamalot, A Song That Goes Like This.

Andersen will be completing his vocal music education degree in the spring after student teaching. Peterson is completing part of her requirement for vocal music education and vocal performance degrees.

The recitals are open to the public and there is no charge for admission. A reception will follow each recital.
