Niles West Graduate Mahir Mameledzija Earns All-Region Honors in Soccer
The sophomore forward from Lake Forest College was also the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
LAKE FOREST, IL (12/15/2011)(readMedia)-- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its all region teams on recently and Lake Forest College's Mahir Mameledzija was a Third Team All-North Region selection.
Mameledzija, a sophomore forward, led the Foresters with 13 goals and 32 points and tied for second on the team with six assists. His point total for the season also ranked tied-for-52nd in the nation and he was tied for 54th in points. He finished second in the Midwest Conference in both categories and was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year on November 17.
Mameledzija recorded at least one point in 13 of Lake Forest's 19 games and tallied two or more points 10 times. He finished with a season-high four points in four separate contests. He received the Foresters' Most Valuable Player award on December 4.
Lake Forest finished the 2011 season with an overall record of 13-3-3 and a conference mark of 5-2-2. The Foresters qualified for the four-team MWC Tournament for the first time since 2005.
