Nissan Trucks Through September
Strong Sales for Nissan Frontier and Rogue Fuel September Sales Growth
QUINCY, MASS. (10/14/2010)(readMedia)-- The transition from summer to fall delivered a fruitful harvest for Nissan and their line of trucks and SUVs, as September sales in the category increased by 33.7% from the last year. This success was part of a strong September push by Nissan, whose overall sales rose by 34%.
The Nissan Rogue sold the most units in the truck, crossover and SUV category with 8,319, a 63.5% increase from last year and a record for the vehicle in September. The Nissan Frontier saw the greatest rise in sales, with a dramatic 80.3% increase. September's sales numbers for Nissan trucks and SUVs are especially impressive in a difficult economic climate that finds buyers favoring small, efficient cars.
"Nissan recognizes the need for smaller vehicles, and we provide those at our dealership, but there are customers out there that need more from their vehicles than an efficient ride to work," said Paul Butts, general manager of Greater Boston Nissan dealer Quirk Nissan. "Some people need room for cargo, hauling capacity or a vehicle that can comfortably and safely transport their families out to the Berkshires or the White Mountains to see the fall foliage. These are purpose-built vehicles that offer great value, and customers are responding to that."
With seating for five, available all-wheel drive, and 57.9 cubic feet of interior cargo space with the rear seats folded, the 2011 Nissan Rogue still earns 26 mpg/highway and 22 mpg/city. Front-wheel drive Rogue models sport stronger highway mileage of 28 mpg and can travel up to 400 miles on a single tank of gas. Massachusetts Nissan customers may find the slightly lower fuel efficiency a fair trade off for the all-wheel drive's extra grip on the road. Vehicle dynamic control (VDC) and a traction control system ship standard on all 2011 Rogue models, providing additional support for stable driving. A sleek and stylish exterior design and a sophisticated interior have also helped the Rogue gain popularity.
Quality and power are the catalyst behind the Frontier's rise in sales. The 2011 Nissan Frontier matches versatility with the same reliability that earned its 2010 predecessor the "Highest Ranked Midsize Pickup in Initial Quality" from J.D. Power and Associates. The Frontier rides on steel, double-wishbone front suspension and rigid leaf-spring suspension in the rear. Two engine types are available to power the solid frame: an efficient 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, or a 4-liter 6-cylinder that generates up to 261 horsepower. Boston Nissan customers needing to get some hard work done or lug heavy loads will appreciate the 6,500-pound towing capacity of the V-6.
"With all the hot weather this summer, I wouldn't be surprised if people have put off their yard and home projects in favor of the beach," said Butts. "Cooler working weather is upon us, and those tasks now need to get done before winter. Customers may be realizing they need something with a little more power, like the Frontier, to get the job done."
